Planning a large vow renewal? Minimize last-minute stress with this comprehensive to-do list!
When you’re planning a large vow renewal, the last thirty days can be rather stressful, to say the least! There are tons of details that you will want to make sure are perfect, and this is inevitably the time that things go wrong. From vendors going out of business suddenly to unexpected illnesses, life can throw you some serious curveballs. The key to managing the unexpected and keeping your stress under control is being organized. We put together a comprehensive list of things that need to be done in the last 30 days before your vow renewal. Use this list to make sure you’ve got everything covered on your personal to-do list.
Get ready for your second honeymoon
- Finish creating your packing list. Your list should include clothing, accessories, shoes, medications, toiletries, and travel documents. While you should have started on this list long ago, this is your last chance to get it right.
- Go shopping for anything you don’t have that’s on your list – sunscreen, medicine, toiletries, clothing, etc.
- Make sure your luggage is in good shape and that you have enough to take everything on your list. If not, pick up new!
- Start packing! Pack everything you can as early as you can. Everything should be packed at least a week before you depart.
- Confirm all of your own travel arrangements. You’ve been making a lot of plans: Did you remember to reserve your own rental car and hotel room? Make sure none of your flight times have been changed (that does happen).
Prepare for the big day
- If you are getting ready somewhere other than home, make a packing list of everything you’ll each need to look fabulous.
- Go shopping for anything you don’t have that’s on your list – attire, shoes, toiletries, makeup, perfume/cologne, undergarments, etc.
- Start packing everything into day-of bags. If either of you will need a garment bag and don’t have one, pick one up!
- Complete a detailed schedule for the day of your vow renewal complete with specific times. Email or drop off copies of the schedule to your vendors, attendants, and helpers.
- Contact each of your vendors to confirm the times (and dates) you included on the vow renewal day schedule at least three weeks before the big day.
- Schedule and attend facial and waxing appointments. These should be no less than ten days before the big day to make sure you’re not dealing with discomfort or breakouts at the last minute.
- Do a practice run with your hairstylist and makeup artist a week or two before the big day (but not the same day as the facial). For a destination vow renewal, make sure you have this appointment scheduled as soon as possible after your arrival. You’ll want time to make adjustments if necessary!
- Give all of your vendors the final detailed schedule at least one week before your vow renewal. This schedule should have the time that each vendor is expected to arrive at the venue(s), the amount of time they quoted for setup, and the time they will return for teardown/cleanup (as appropriate). These can be sent out via email. You should request a confirmation of their details on the schedule by phone or email within 24 hours of receipt. Call anyone that doesn’t respond directly and get confirmation on the details. Confirmations are critical as you need to be sure that everyone will be where they are supposed to be at the time they are supposed to be there for your vow renewal.
