Q. Do I need to send save-the-dates?
A. Save-the-date cards are not required, but they can be helpful if you will be having guests who will need to make travel arrangements to attend or if your vow renewal is on or close to a major holiday. Save-the-date cards were originally for destination weddings where the proper etiquette is to send your save-the-dates as soon as you set the date and location. Obviously, if you are having a destination vow renewal, you definitely should send them out so your friends and family have as much notice as possible to save money and make travel arrangements to attend. One thing to be cautious of, don’t send save-the-date cards to people that may not make your final guest list. That would be a terrible faux pas.
